Diamond Night Sky Watercolor

Taping off the background to create a diamond shape adds another interesting element to this Night Sky Watercolor.

Diamond Night Sky Watercolor

Every step of this watercolor was fun and satisfying to paint. I’m learning I enjoy painting foreground subjects black with colorful backgrounds. However when I removed the tape, I saw the water had seeped under it. I tried to cover it up with the same bleed-proof white I used to create the stars.

Check out another watercolor I did, following the same principles of taping off areas and painting foregrounds black: Birds on a Wire Watercolor.

Here’s the Let’s Make Art with Sarah Cray video I followed. I also have a link to their website in the left sidebar. I’m signed up for their monthly subscription boxes which comes with the supplies needed for 4 watercolor projects. If you’re interested in getting monthly kits delivered to your door or have questions, please leave me know in the comments below.
